The adventure route to Big Sur is offered in two separate route options. The Half-Day option takes you to Ragged Point driving north on Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy 1), this is the southern portion of Big Sur. The Full-Day option continues north on PCH from Ragged Point and into Monterey County. You will find yourself immersed amongst giant Sequoia Redwood trees and in the unincorporated town of Big Sur.

The Morro Bay adventure will also take you through the quaint beach community of Cayucos and seaside community of Baywood Los Osos. We have curated this tour so that you may visit several small and rural towns within northern San Luis Obispo County. Additionally, this adventure also takes you through mostly unknown areas as you travel between populations. This diverse sightseeing route will take you to downtowns, on Main Streets and to other local scenic highlights. Buckle up and get ready to visit Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, Santa Margarita, Shandon and Creston.

We also offer a shorter, abbreviated version of the Small Town Tour that excludes the “Shandon Loop.”

What to Bring

To get the most enjoyment out of your ride, we suggest you wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Every person is required to wear a helmet and sunglasses are recommended. A DOT-approved helmet is provided to borrow during your rental period. A valid driver’s license is required for all drivers – NO EXCEPTIONS! Credit or debit card is required for payment and security deposit.

It is highly recommended to also bring a hat, sunblock and additional layers of clothing. We do provide some complimentary water and refreshments, but it’s always a good idea to bring additional water and snacks. Make sure to bring your camera to capture all of the epic moments!

Frequently Asked Questions

Minimum age to rent and drive is 27 with a valid driver’s license. In order to be a passenger you must be able to sit in the seat, with your feet flat on the floor and back against the seat. While we do not enforce a strict height requirement, typically if an individual is about 54 inches tall, they will fit and be able to ride. Minors must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.  All participants are required to wear a helmet and eye protection (helmets are provided to borrow during your rental period). California Coast Adventures reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, even those meeting the qualifications above, based on our sole discretion.

Self-Guided GPS Tour Rentals provide our customers GPS technology to follow pre-planned routes to exciting destinations within our curated adventure tours.

Cancellations up to 1 week prior to rental date incur a fee of 50% of the rental cost. Within 48 hours of the reservation, the cancellation fee becomes the full price of the reservation. If reservations are made during a Holiday week or weekend (i.e.: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.) the cancellation fee is the full price of reservation.

Yes, a $1,500 security deposit is required per vehicle. Included Protection with each rental the renter is responsible for the first $1,500 of any damage to the vehicle (including parts, labor, loss of use). All additional damage charges will be waived. Please acknowledge: the renter’s credit card that is used will be saved on file and WILL have a hold placed on their card (on the day of rental) for the security deposit in the amount of $1,500 per vehicle. Once the vehicle is returned and inspected for possible damage or abuse and no signs of damage or abuse are found, the credit hold will be immediately released. If there is any damage or abuse detected then California Coast Adventures will keep the security deposit hold in place to allow a mechanic time to inspect and report all damages.
